Catch My Drift

With Florida being one of the top travel destinations in the country, we have our fair share of hotels.  As a former hotelier, I have worked, visited, and stayed at a variety of them. From grand to boutique, ocean side to city, hotels give me a sense of excitement, especially when a new one happens to drift our way. Stay-cations have become quite popular, especially during the summer months with specials and deals popping up all the time.  Hearing the latest buzz, Laverne and I decided to take a field trip to check out Hutchinson Resort & Spa.  Similar to our outing to Coconuts, we went to have a drink and appetizer, and while there, see the property. As we entered through the lobby, it was bright and inviting.  The lobby has wood floors, was wide open, and had a very nautical feel to it.  There were pictures of sea life on the walls and various art work hanging. They have two quaint pools both of which have an ocean view.  I would have definitely tried the spa, had we had more time.  The hotel is located directly on the beach so the views are stunning.  We headed to their restaurant Drift Kitchen & Bar.  Drift offers both indoor and outdoor seating with ocean views of course.  We chose to sit at the bar which had a contemporary feel to it.  I opted for their Drift Tangerine Beer (keeping it local) and my blogging partner had a cocktail.  Both were refreshing and perfect for the setting we were in.  We ordered the Wood Fired Artichoke Fonduta.  Wow!  You will not be disappointed.  I highly recommend starting with this appetizer.  It was baked cheeses and artichokes served with flatbread for dipping.  Totally yumminess!  They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and private dining is serviced through them as well.  This is a casually elegant spot if looking for drinks or dining with a view.  When looking to reserve a room, be sure to check out, which has been running promotions.  The resort also offers a Florida resident, and a local heroes discount where firefighters, police, first responders, EMT, and teachers are offered a reduced rate.  The hotel itself will definitely be filled come season, so if you are looking for a last minute stay cation, date night with a view, or a spa service, I suggest drifting on over Hutchinson Shores Resort and Spa.
