Southern comfort food meets Clematis Street! Batch New Southern Kitchen opened only a few months ago and is creating a huge buzz. Known for their farm to table concept, Batch uses a scratch kitchen with the freshest ingredients in both their food and drinks. Who doesn’t love fresh? After snagging a seat at the bar, the bartender, courteous and friendly, explained their concept and offered a sample of their homemade spirits on tap. All of the samples were quite tasty, but the Bootlegger was definitely a favorite with its spicy, yet sweet combination. The natural ingredients were apparent in each of them. While they could have all been ordered, a cold beer was in store for the night. The menu has many unique southern dishes, including the ever famous chicken and waffles. They also have a variety of mac and cheese that you can top with your fixings of choice. It was a tough decision with the variation of items popping out at you, but along with the recommendation of the bartender, the brisket and short rib burger was a must! The burger was mouth watering, tender, and flavorful. You could taste a hint of whisky in the caramelized onions, and the sauce…..well let’s just say, an extra side was ordered. Batch is certainty living up to the buzz. They are open for lunch and dinner, as well as brunch. They have a great weekly happy hour from 4 p.m.-7 p.m. where everything behind the bar is under $13 (not including certain bottled beers and rotating drafts). Be sure to check out their website also as they offer weekly specials including, Whisky Wednesday, Ladies Night Thursday, Scratch Friday, and Bootlegger Saturday. Keep in mind also this Saturday, April 6, Batch will be celebrating the repeal of prohibition for New Beers Eve and National Beer Day! Copperpoint Brewery will be in with giveaways and they’ll have beer specials all day long! Reservations are recommended. Batch has a great vibe going, and add their amazing cocktails and dishes to the mix, it is a new hot spot that you MUST check out!
